The Essence of Incense

The use of air fresheners such as incense, scented soy candles, and chemical-based air deodorisers (at home, the workplace and other living or working environment) is practical and at times necessary in today’s modern world. Nobody wants to live in a house that reeks of unpleasant odours. And you certainly can’t concentrate at work if the person next to you smells like fish!

The use of the term “air freshener” to describe chemical-based air deodorizers is rather inaccurate and misleading. If you’re walking around a mall and you see a product called “air freshener” you would think that it could actually “freshen” the air. Sadly, this is not true. Here are the reasons why.
1.      Chemical air fresheners release fragrance to merely mask odours.
2.      The air is not purified by the chemicals released, it just smells fresh or clean.
3.      Potentially hazardous chemicals are released into the air.

The widespread use of commercially available chemical-based air deodorizers or “air fresheners” has deprived people of the benefits of using incense. Most people don’t think of incense when they need to deodorize an area. This is because, traditionally, incense was (and still is) used mainly for religious worship or activities. Not many are aware of the use of incense as an air deodorizer. In the same manner, not many are aware of the fact that incense is actually safer than using a chemical-based air freshener.

Why Use Incense?
1.      Incense is derived from natural or organic materials; also called biological derived material or simply biotic material.
2.      The fragrant smoke released by burning the biotic material does not contain potentially hazardous chemicals.
3.      The pleasant scent, depending on the aromatic plant materials and essential oils used, is delightful and can help your mood!
4.     The pleasant scent can block unpleasant odours from things such as cigarette smoke, car exhausts, cooking food, etc.
5.      The singling out of conflicting scents can calm a person’s mind.
6.      The association between the scent produced by incense and a pleasant past event can promote an elated mood that can be triggered whenever you smell the fragrant smoke.
7.      Using specific variety and scents of incense can improve concentration. Especially if your work requires intense levels of attention to detail.
8.      It can clear the mind from distractions. Artists trying to paint a masterpiece or write music are inspired by the dream like state that it promotes.
9.      It promotes muscle relaxation and reduces tension levels. Nervous about something? Take a whiff of the fragrant smoke and benefit from its calming effects.
10.  Unlike chemical air fresheners, certain forms of smoke produced by incense actually have insecticidal, fungicidal, and antibacterial properties. It really does cleanse the air!
11.  You can buy incense online! All you have to do is search the web; you will surely come across websites dedicated to selling incense.
12.  Incense is very affordable. This is always a plus for anyone who wants to save money.

Hopefully by now you can see the advantages of using incense and finally get rid of that chemical “air freshener” you’re keeping in your drawer. Do include incense it in your to-buy list until you have tried it; buy incense online now and experience its benefits for yourself.
