Sweet Sweet Ylang Ylang

How many of you are familiar with ylang ylang or have seen this tree? If you haven't, that's fine.  You can get to know about the plant and its sweet floral scent through this post.

Ylang Ylang, pronounced as ee-lang ee-lang means "flower of flowers."  It is a tree that originated in the South East Asia and it is the name given to the tree and its flower.  Now the plant is found in Burma, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines.  The Ylang Ylang essential oil is widely used in aromatherapy and perfumery.

The process of steam distillation is used in extracting cananga and ylang ylang oil both derived from the ylang ylang tree.  The carnaga oil is mainly used in soaps and toiletries.  Ylang ylang oil on the other hand is highly used in perfumery because it has a delightful, sweet and heavenly scent.
